Grades 5-8 Learning
Middle school students begin their day with core academic learning including literacy, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies. Afternoons provide opportunities for projects, specialty classes, collaborative learning experiences, and opportunities to explore ideas in more depth.
Throughout the day, students move between direct instruction, independent work, discussion, collaboration, and active learning experiences that encourage increasing responsibility and participation in the learning process.
Education
Middle school is an important time for students to build organization, self-awareness, responsibility, and confidence in their own learning. Riverbend’s classroom structure encourages students to take increasing ownership of their work while continuing to receive guidance and support from teachers along the way.

Students gradually develop skills related to planning, time management, self-advocacy, problem solving, and navigating challenges with greater independence.
Middle school students participate in projects, discussions, specialty classes, and learning experiences that encourage deeper thinking, collaboration, creativity, and real-world application of ideas.

Students have opportunities to investigate topics, explore interests, and engage with learning in ways that encourage curiosity and active participation.
Students use tablets and digital tools alongside discussion, written work, projects, collaboration, and hands-on learning experiences throughout the school day. Technology supports organization, research, creativity, and learning across subject areas.
